Raiki Shagi

Syaho Kun

These pictures above are hanging in many Dojo. "Raiki Shagi" is a quotation from an ancient Chinese book "Raiki", and gives an address of instructions on how we should bend a bow in view of our minds. "Shahokun" gives us the main points on how to bend a bow, written by Jyunsei Yoshimi in Kishu clan in the Edo era.

Words of Morikawa Sensei

In this picture, you can see the secret of Morikawa sensei's Hanare ( moment of releasing the arrow ), who founded Yamato-ryu, one of the schools of kyudo. It is often said that Hanare is the highest point of kyudo.
I will explain these meanings at another time.
